TRANSITIONAL CONCEPT

You might ask what transitional is. If you go by the dictionary, it is defined as the changing of a condition to another. This is so true when you talk about living trends. Urban Culture easily interprets this in two varying style concepts Ð eclecticism and Zenism. It is a successful combination of concepts that is widely adapted in the western countries and slowly embraced here.

By employing Zenism in some of its settings, Urban Culture stresses on the importance of peace and harmony in the ambience. Natural, muted and earth-toned colours are used to create an oasis of calm in your busy and hectic daily life in the city. Soft textures in sofas, runners, cushions, carpets and even flowers create a visual and tactile feast for your senses.

Zenism normally appears as giving the impression of a clinical and simple existence but with the luxurious use of colours and textures, it demonstrates a sensual awareness of light, feel of fabrics, sculptures and decorative pieces made of stone, porcelain, ceramic or hemp.

Living styles are no longer based on uniform looks or even matching series. This is clearly seen in eclecticism. There's no right way or wrong way in portraying eclecticism. One can use anything, any colour or texture, or even combining themes. Basically, eclecticism uses a spectrum of colours which can have surprising effects. Clashing bright jazzy colours tend to be the norm for it stresses on having a passionate outlook at life. Furniture and furnishing made of wood or natural materials revolve round this concept to give a more down to earth and balanced feel to the otherwise lively ambience.
